THE chance to go down in history as just the third club to win three straight Ovens and King Football League senior premierships is driving the Kelly Tigers.
Victory over Tarrawingee on Saturday afternoon would put Glenrowan in an exclusive group with Beechworth and Greta – the only other clubs to have achieved the elusive three-peat.
Beechworth has pulled it off twice – from 1912-14 and then again from 1937-39 – while Greta managed the feat when it won from 1965-67.
Tigers forward Jordan Hansted said the shot at history was one his side was desperate to seize.
“It’s a pretty big feat when you consider no one has done it in the last 50 years,” Hansted said.
“It has been talked about a bit, and we all want to see it happen and be a part of that.”
