KING Valley has one foot in the finals after storming to a gutsy 13-point win at Bright on Saturday.

Needing a win to maintain their top six hopes, the Roos were rocked at the selection table heading into the match with Brendan Sessions, Josh Roman and Daniel Bruce all unavailable due to other commitments, and Richard Castles out with a corky.

Bright had issues of its own with Tom Buckley, Dylan Cudmore and Sean McGregor travelling to Bali, and it was a horror start for the Mountain Men with Ben Henwood going down with a knee injury in the opening minutes.

Aaron Kiely banged through two early goals as King Valley scored the first five majors of the game thanks to dominance in the middle, with Sam and Adam Evans, Jamie Brown, Tim Roman and Adam Williams firing.

But Bright hit back hard from that point on, with superb defence from Brad Nightingale and Jason Gentile quelling the Roos’ firepower.

Nick Lebish, Steve Nightingale, Brendan Jenvey and Darcy Martin gave the Mountain Men the momentum, and they added eight of the next nine goals to carry a 13-point lead into the final term.
