SENSELESS vandals have caused damage to two local sporting groups leaving them, council and police disappointed.

Vandals destroyed council’s new Disc Golf Course at the HP Barr Reserve by ripping up four poles, two of them later used to pierce a green at the nearby Wangaratta Bowls and Sporting Club on Park Lane.

About six holes, 50 millimetres in diameter, were pierced through the synthetic green in a random pattern, in the middle of the green.

The damage occurred overnight between 6pm Thursday and 8am Friday.

Bowls club member Greg McDonald said it was an unnecessary cost to the club.

“It’s funds we don’t need to spend…I just can’t understand why this would happen,” he said.
