    PANGERANG elder Freddie Dowling is on a crusade to have his people recognised on a map of Aboriginal Australia which attempts to identify all the different tribes and their lands in Australia.

    At present the Wangaratta region has the Waveroo people identified on the map with no mention of the Pangerang.

    Freddie will take his case to the Minister for Education Simon Birmingham in Canberra in the coming weeks alongside Liberal candidate for Indi Sophie Mirabella to have his people’s connection to the land recognised.

    “I have been campaigning for this since 2003,” Freddie said.

    “They admit it’s wrong; I’ve got letters saying if they had the funding they would fix it.
