EMBRACING THE CHALLENGE: First year coach Nathan Hooper.

WHOROULY started its 2016 campaign with a practice match against Beechworth at Baarmutha Park last week.

In tough and trying conditions for the young Lions, new coach Nathan Hooper said there were some good signs.

“Through the preseason we have tried to open up our game plan and have got the young guys to really back themselves in when they have the football,” Hooper said.

“Taking the game on, using their pace to run and carry the footy are some of things I have been trying to implement.

“The game against Beechworth had some very good signs for the club.”

The match against Beechworth was also Hooper’s first in charge at his new club.
