AS round seven of the Wangaratta and District Cricket Association junior competition drew to a close there were some outstanding individual and team performances to reflect on.
There were 19 players across the 20 games this round who scored 20 runs or more, with Rutherglen’s Matthew Hince, Benalla Bushrangers’ Brady Purcell, Yarrawonga Lakers’ Ben Irvine, and Yarrawonga Mulwala Rams’ Kaemon Ellerton all scoring half centuries over the weekend.
These stand-out performances from each of these players also went a long way to securing victory for their sides.
The bowling unit of the WDCA junior competition also produced some high quality figures to end the round picking up from last week with 36 players taking two wickets or more.
Ovens Valley United’s Josh Thompson took his maiden five wicket innings finishing with figures of 5/18, while Mansfield’s Allister Bennett took two wickets without bowling a full over to finish Beechworth’s under 16 innings.
