Bronze bust an honour for local sporting legend

LOCAL tennis legend Rex Hartwig will be formally inducted into the Australian Tennis Hall of Fame tomorrow.
A former Australian Open and Davis Cup champion turned Greta Poll Dorset farmer, Hartwig will be inducted at a special service that will coincide with the Australian Open and Australia Day.
The ceremony will take place in Garden Square at Melbourne Park where a bronze bust of Hartwig will be unveiled alongside the other Hall of Fame inductees.
It is a fitting location for the honour to be bestowed on Hartwig, as he won two Australian Open Mixed Doubles titles in his time atop of the game, and one title in the doubles tournament.
Australia Day 2016 will also commemorate 100 years of tennis in Australia.
Hartwig previously told the Wangaratta Chronicle on his induction that he was both humbled and very pleased with the achievement.
