BENDIGO hosted the Victorian Country Swimming Championships on the weekend, with Wangaratta swimmers performing exceptionally well.
The team point score had Wangaratta as the 8th placed club and the girls were fourth on points, their highest ever result.
This made Wangaratta the highest ranked Ovens and Murray swim club.
Elli Warren was the most successful of the swimmers, finishing with three gold, three silver and four bronze medals from individual swims.
She teamed up with Grace Harmer, Isabelle Renner and Brianna Archer to take the bronze in the 17 and Over 200m Freestyle relay.
Renner was replaced by Bridget Cole in the Open 400m Freestyle relay team which won the bronze medal, Cole’s first at Country level.
On the individual front Renner claimed bronze in the 16-17 years 100m Butterfly and two fourth placings, while Archer and Harmer had some personal best swims.
Maggie Skewes had podium finishes in all her age group events bringing home two gold and three bronze.
The 12 year old signalled her future intentions with fourth and seventh placings in the Open 100m and 200m Freestyle events.
