LIFE’S pretty good for Byawatha farmer Tony Ransom since he completed his harvesting two weeks ago.

Both canola and wheat harvests were plentiful, he has plenty of water on his property just out of Wangaratta and his land at Rennie in southern NSW was even better for yields.

“We’re very happy,” Mr Ransom said.

“The canola crop was as good as we have had, producing about one and half tonnes to the hectare while wheat was around three and half tonnes to the hectare and the crops at Rennie were a fraction better.

“We are one of the few areas in Victoria to get the rainfall this year and our crops made the most of it.”

Mr Ransom, a second generation farmer at Byawatha, also has 1000 head of sheep and he believes he has enough feed to get through the summer.
