Barbara loves growing with community theatre

A LOVE of local theatre and working in aged care sums up Wangaratta resident Barbara Ryan.

Barbara grew up in Melbourne, spent 20 years in Wangaratta raising two children before moving to Coffs Harbour with her husband for 13 years.

It was on the New South Wales mid-north coast where Barbara said was her “training ground” for theatre.

About seven years ago, Barbara moved back to the North East and became involved with the Wangaratta Players Inc and has since directed plays for the past four years, including the recent sold out ‘Mum’s The Word’.

Shortly before Barbara moved north, she was involved with Wangaratta Musical Comedy Company (now non-existent) and admitted had always loved singing but had never stepped on stage until she was 35.

With a twinkle in her eyes and bursting into a broad smile, Barbara described the joy of getting to see others grow while participating in community theatre.
