PARKING dilemmas at the HP Barr Reserve will become a distant memory for Wangaratta’s sporting fraternity when a chunk of unused land is turned into new spaces.
The transformation would add to an extra 117 sealed and lined parking spaces currently being created, work costing $253,000, due for completion by October at the latest.
Council is about to go to tender for design and concept plans for stage three – the land adjacent to the new spaces and running parallel along the length of the netball courts – a project that would create at least another 150 spaces.
Demand for parking is growing with multiple sports clashing at the Barr Reserve at any given time.
It’s not uncommon during peak times of netball training and Saturday mornings when multiple sporting codes play competition that motorists are seen desperately attempting to find that elusive car park.
With a new 50m heated outdoor pool planned for the future at the site, the strain on parking would get more intense.
