LOCAL residents will start to receive new bins from Monday, with 12,000 organic and larger general waste bins being rolled out during August.
The new waste collection system will begin on Monday, August 31 and cost urban residents an extra $26 per year.
Rural delivery of larger 240 litre red lidded bins and retrieval of the old 140L bins will take place first, starting with Glenrowan South on Monday.
Urban residents will get the new green lidded organic waste bin during August, along with their kitchen caddies and bin liners, which will be delivered separately in some areas.
Residents can only use the free council supplied compostable bin liners that are made from corn starch.
The lids of the existing dark green lidded 140L bins in urban areas will also be replaced with red lids.
Some 8200 organic bins and 4000 upsized rural general waste bins will be delivered in the $800,000 operation.
