New executive for Wines of the King Valley

NEWLY appointed executive and marketing officer for Wines of the King Valley, Alison Lloyd, hit the ground running in her role, preparing for one of the region’s major tourism events, Weekend Fit For A King over the June long weekend.

Ms Lloyd took up her position in March after moving to the North East in November last year with her young family pursuing fresh air, space and a position in the rapidly developing food, wine, tourism and events sector.

“I feel privileged that I’ve been able to come on board at a crucial time of development for both the region and the association,” Ms Lloyd said.

“I am currently working on organising the Weekend Fit for a King food and wine festival – getting the word out to people in the area and beyond about our range of nine participating wineries, the new release wines available for tasting and the delicious Italian style rustic fare to enjoy.

“I haven’t experienced winter in the North East yet but I bet that a glass of red and some piping hot lasagne by the fire will be welcome come Queen’s Birthday long weekend.

“I’m also looking forward to meeting more locals at Weekend Fit for a King.

“One of the benefits that I see of living in this region is the full calendar of gourmet and cultural activities so I’m going to be taking the opportunity to participate in as many as possible.”
