A SCHOOL student was lucky to walk away after a brick wall collapsed at the Olympic Pool on Friday morning.
A brick wall in the female change rooms fell while the girl was in close vicinity at around 10am.
“A single brick wall was lent against and came over, one child sustained a minor scratch on her leg who was with a school group,” Rural City of Wangaratta chief executive officer, Brendan McGrath said.
“She was okay to go back with the group to school, it gave her a fright.
“I have spoken to the child’s mother about the incident and things are okay.”
“Another similar wall has been taken down as a precaution before we have a more thorough assessment of the structure.”
Due to the incident, the Olympic Pool’s swimming season has been cut short, and was closed immediately on Friday.
