Browns invite North East to help celebrate 125th birthday

BROWN Brothers Milawa is not only joining in the La Dolce Vita festivities this weekend – it is marking an impressive milestone for the winery itself.

Everyone is invited to help celebrate 125 years of family winemaking during Brown Brothers’ annual Spring Wine and Food Festival this weekend.

“My grandfather, John Francis (Brown), made his first wine in the old barn in 1889,” said Ross Brown, executive director and third generation member of the Brown family.

“The ‘old barn’ on the site in Milawa was built in the late 1850s by my great grandfather John Graham and will be officially re-opened over the festival weekend.”

Fourth generation family member Caroline Brown said “it’s a very special occasion for us because we can reflect on what the generations before us have contributed to make the business the success that it is today”.

“We’re very excited to have three generations out of the five of the Brown family at the dinner in the barn on Saturday night,” she said.
