WANGARATTA City Speedway will usher in a new season tomorrow with a spectacular mix of high octane action.
From the local heroes in sedan racing to the visiting compact speedcars and Grand Prix midgets in open wheel racing, there is something on offer for all motor sports fans.
The Victorian Compact Speedcar Club will this season once again hold its state title at Wangaratta, so this early run is important as drivers get to check on any resurfacing done over the off-season.
The standout driver is Victorian champion Robbie Gordon, who will compete against the likes of Justin Paull, Michael Dickson and Danny Alchin.
The Grand Prix Midget Club will hold round one of its Masters Series point score with last year’s Australian and Victorian champion, Melbourne’s Ash Booker, headlining the entry list which includes the very talented Lisa Chalcraft, which will make things interesting at the front of the field.
The local club’s strongest division is the Victorian Sports Sedans, and while the race meeting is an opportunity for local drivers to score points in the club aggregate, the race meeting also doubles as a state aggregate point score and has attracted some competition from other clubs.
