Still a big year for Brown Brothers

WHILE a national report shows Australia’s wine vintage this year was slightly down on the high yields of 2013, quality at one of the country’s premier family-owned wine companies didn’t falter.

Brown Brothers at Milawa was very happy with its 2014 vintage, as fruit came in off the vines like clockwork.

Winemaker Kate Looney said “it was clean, nice fruit – it was one of our easiest vintages”.

“There weren’t any weather events that caused any stress levels and things came in at a nicely paced manner,” she said.

“It was a high quality vintage from sparklings that held their acid really well, to reds that have really lovely color and rich flavors.”

Frost damage 12 months ago affected different areas of Victoria and some of Brown Brothers’ vineyards were hit.
