WANGARATTA City co-coach Mario Antonello conceded missed chances in Sunday’s clash with Albury City could prove costly as clubs jostle for finals places.

The Red Devils dominated much of the contest against their eighth-placed opponents but simply couldn’t find the net, eventually forced to settle for a nil-all draw.

Coming off an emotional 4-2 victory over Myrtleford the previous round, Wangaratta City entered the match against Albury City riding a wave of momentum, but Antonello said the side just failed to finish off its hard work.

“We definitely had more of the attack throughout the game,” Antonello said.

“I’d say the ball was in their defence 75 per cent of the time.

“But we missed a penalty with 15 minutes to go when their keeper made a save, and we had a number of one-on-ones, but we just didn’t capitalise.

“We created a lot of opportunities but we couldn’t put them away.”
