WANGARATTA City FC reversed its season-long pattern of falling away in the second half, booting three goals against Albury United at Jelbart Park on Sunday.
In wet conditions the Red Devils made several errors in the first half, chasing a 3-0 deficit at the halftime break.
But an offensive change at halftime and an inspiring speech from co-coach Mario Antonello helped the Devils get on the scoreboard early in the second half.
“The first half was disappointing but they didn’t dominate play or anything like that,” Antonello said.
“We got two nice early goals in the second then they scored another one and we scored one more so were 4 to 3.
“Then they got one more towards the end and that killed off the game.”
