WOOLWORTHS is just weeks away from lodging a new application to construct a petrol station in Wangaratta.
A Woolworths spokeswoman said the company “remains committed to bringing a petrol station to Wangaratta”.
“We are looking into a number of sites including the corner of Vincent Road and Tone Road,” the spokeswoman said.
“We hope to submit an application in the coming weeks and look forward to providing local customers with our petrol offer.”
The application will follow Woolworths’ failed 2012 bid to construct a 24 hour petrol station in Ryley Street, Wangaratta.
That proposal attracted strong opposition from residents, including the formation of a No Safeway Servo Community Group, and attendance of 2500 at a rally to protest against the project.
