TWO Wangaratta women committed to local sport received prestigious Victorian School Sports Awards this week.
Georgia Macklan and Cheryl Kreltszheim were two of 66 Victorians to receive the awards, presented at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Tuesday.
Kreltszheim received the Outstanding Community Contribution award for her commitment to assisting sporting endeavors at Wangaratta High School and the wider community.
A former Wangaratta High School student, Macklan was awarded the Sporting Blue award for her outstanding efforts in golf.
Throughout her junior career, Macklan broke two records at the Yarrawonga course, shooting two under par on the Lakes course and shooting even par on the Murray course.
The 18 year old was nominated for her outstanding achievements by former teacher, Sandy Newman.
“She nominated me because she knew I had won those tournaments at the start of last year and she knew I was trying to balance school and golf,” Macklan said.
