Students rapt to have released their own CD

FINISHED PRODUCT: Kids for Whitfield and District Primary School including (back, from left) Hunter Calvene, Mikaylah Rumbelow and Pippa Roberts with (front) Xander Van Bergen, Lachlan Bray, Viveka Pizzini-Smith, Sophie Bray, were excited by the arrival of their new CD, which were created entirely by the students.

THE kids at Whitfield and District Primary have had more than the end of the year to celebrate, having just welcomed the arrival of their brand new CD.

The 14-track, professionally recorded masterpiece called “Party Time @ Whitfield” was produced entirely by the students, and features covers as well as original songs which have been written, performed and sung by the multi-talented young musos.

Each grade three to six student also produced one page of a 16-page color booklet which comes with the CD, incorporating the writing of lyrics, layout and formatting into their literacy studies.

Music teacher Claire Bradbury said the project had been a year in the making, as the class worked  collaboratively to choose, develop and perform the most suitable songs, which were then recorded over four days with the assistance of local parents and musicians, Brad and Sammy Rumbelow.

“It really has been a fantastic opportunity for the kids to create their own songs and to be part of that whole production process,” said Ms Bradbury.

“These kids are just wonderful, but we couldn’t have done it without the support of their families and the teachers at the school.

“It’s been an amazing experience and one of those things that as a music teacher, I would love to do at every school.”
