Exams over, schoolies now focus for our teens

FORMAL VCE exams will finish up in Wangaratta today, as hundreds of local students complete their secondary schooling.

Statewide, the exam period officially concludes tomorrow, but for Wangaratta students sitting exams, the last of those is today.

Wangaratta High School student Mark Kemp completed his exams yesterday, concluding with VET Music: Technical Production.

“I’ve found it (exam period) alright, I chose not to be stressed though,” he said.

“I don’t think many of my friends have found it stressful either, we’ve all got the same sort of attitude, but it depends on how seriously you take it.”

Fellow WHS students, Jack Seymour and Georgia Macklan, were looking ahead to their schoolies trip next week, as thousands of school leavers will flock to coastal areas in the coming weeks.

Popular destinations for students include the Gold Coast, the Victorian Surf Coast and the Mornington Peninsula.

Staying at Surfers Paradise with six other friends, Jack said schoolies was a great way not only to celebrate the completion of the final year of school, but 13 years of primary and secondary education.

“I can’t wait to relax after exams and have a good time,” he said.
