WANGARATTA’S Carly Perso continues to be recognised as one of the state’s best up and coming basketball talents, having been chosen as one of 10 members of Basketball Victoria’s National Performance Program (NPP).
Perso, 16, has consistently represented Victoria Country at national tournaments over the past three years, and said being selected for the NPP was another big step in her blooming career.
“The NPP is a squad of five Vic Country girls and five Vic Metro girls,” Perso said.
“Every Sunday we go down to Melbourne to train at the Knox State Basketball Centre.
“It’s a really good achievement for my age group – under 18 girls – and it will lead to some big opportunities, like playing on the state team and hopefully getting back up to the AIS.
“The next camp will be for the state team try-outs, so hopefully, fingers crossed, I will get in.”
