YARRAWONGA has claimed back-to-back Ovens and Murray flags for the first time in the club’s history after the Pigeons defeated Albury in yesterday’s grand final at Lavington.
The Pigeons started slowly, trailing at the first two breaks before storming back into the game with a brilliant third term.
Both sides through everything at each other in the final quarter, however, the Pigeons had too much class when it mattered most and ran out winners 13.12 (90) to 8.6 (54).
Star forward Brendan Fevola kicked four goals for the Pigeons while co-coach Drew Barnes added three.
Andy Carey kicked three goals in his final game for the Tigers.
In front of 11,000 people, the Tigers jumped out of the blocks and looked primed for an upset, however, they could add just one goal after half time while the Pigeons dominated.
