WANGARATTA Rovers are getting closer to announcing a new coach, however, Hawks football operations manager Barry Sullivan says officials won’t rush the decision.
The Hawks are hoping to have a new coach in place by the club’s presentation night on September 27 and have narrowed the list of candidates down to three.
The club’s sub-committee in charge of choosing the new coach, which Sullivan is a part of, met on Sunday to discuss the next phase of the process.
Sullivan confirmed three candidates remained in the race for the Hawks job but said a final decision could still be weeks away.
“We just sat down and planned out the next step,” he said.
“At this stage we are still working through that and that could take a bit of time.
“Ideally we’ve said all along that we would like to have someone signed by presentation night.
“But we’re not going to force a conclusion – we want to get it right for the club.”
