New faces in Chronicle’s O&K Team of the Year


WELL, after plenty of deliberation, here it is – my Ovens and King Football League Team of the Year.

It wasn’t an easy side to pick – a number of players enjoyed sensational seasons yet still missed out, such has been the level of talent in the competition this year.

There are a total of eight different faces in my team from the one chosen at the league’s presentation night, which simply comes down to a matter of opinion.

Those who missed out on presentation night but made it into my side start with Bright’s outgoing coach, Ryan Kent, who was an extraordinary omission given he was runner up in the Baker Medal after another stellar season.

Kent has been an absolute workhorse in the middle for the Mountain Men for the past four years, and one of the most consistent players in the competition – he never plays a bad game.

His teammate Steve Nightingale – a two-time Baker Medallist – also gets a gig in my side in the back pocket after moving from the midfield to defence this season.
