GEORGIA Macklan (pictured right) enjoyed one of the biggest wins of her golfing career on the weekend when she took out the Victorian final of the Aaron Baddeley International Junior Championship (ABIJC) at Yering Meadows.
Macklan, whose handicap currently sits at two, produced an incredibly consistent round of two-over-par 75, with eight straight pars, bogies on nine and 10, and another eight pars to finish.
The 18 year old won in a countback from 14 year old sensation Alexandra Hilliard to win one of two spots in the Victorian team to contest the Australian final of the ABIJC, which will be played at Heritage Golf and Country Club in Melbourne on October 19.
The top two players at that tournament will go on to play the international final in China.
It has been a big 12 months for Macklan, who started the year in sensational form, winning an incredible seven straight tournaments through January before stepping back from golf to focus on her year 12 studies at Wangaratta High School.
“I actually didn’t think that I would do that well on the weekend, because I haven’t been able to practice as much as usual,” Macklan said.
“So to win and get into the Australian final is amazing.”
