WANGARATTA City Football Club’s hopes of grand final glory now rest solely on the shoulders of their young Devils.
Six of the club’s teams played off in the weekend for a spot in next weekend’s Albury/Wodonga Football Association grand finals.
At Myrtleford on Saturday, the club’s U13 boys lost 4-0 to Hotspurs, and their Reserve ladies lost 5-0 to Albury United.
A massive crowd turned out at Wangaratta’s homeground yesterday to watch the other four teams do battle.
The club’s undefeated U16 boys and league champions made their way through to the grand final with a convincing 5-2 win over Albury City.
And the club’s U12 boys – who are also league champions are haven’t dropped a game in over two years – won through to the grand final with a 3-1 win over Albury United.
Wangaratta’s U14 boys went down 4-1 to Myrtleford, while in shock result, the Over 35 Men league champions lost to Albury City Blue 2-1.
