A DATE has been set for the next step in Councillor Julian Fidge’s bid to appeal his two month suspension.
It came after the controversial councillor won a stay on his suspension at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) on Wednesday.
A directions hearing for review of the Councillor Conduct Panel decision to suspend him will now be heard at VCAT on September 16.
In the meantime Cr Fidge will continue being a councillor.
Confusion still surrounds exactly who Cr Fidge will argue against at the VCAT hearing, as nobody from the Councillor Conduct Panel or the Rural City of Wangaratta appeared at VCAT on Wednesday as a respondent.
Panel chair Roger Batrouney has indicated he has no intention of acting as the respondent, and that council should be the respondent.
