Red Devils hit back

Frawley scores brilliant hat-trick as Wangaratta City crushes Blues 6-2

WANGARATTA City returned to form ahead of the upcoming finals with a 6-2 demolition of Albury City.

WANGARATTA City returned to form ahead of the upcoming Albury/Wodonga Football Association finals with a 6-2 demolition of Albury City at South Wangaratta on Sunday.

Tom Frawley stole the limelight from human headline Steffan Joseph, nailing a hat-trick while Joseph added two in the big win.

Englishman Neil Smith was again at his instrumental best in defence and even managed to sneak forward to score his first goal of the season.

The Red Devils led 3-1 at half time after getting on top despite kicking against a strong breeze, however, they quickly put the game away in the second half, extending their lead to 6-1 with three quick goals.

Albury City added some respectability with a late free kick, however, the damage had already been done.

Wangaratta City coach Jon Shaw said he was unsure how to feel after the game but he was rapt with how his side performed when the game was up for grabs.
