WANGARATTA coach Mark Knobel has labelled Albury as the best side in the Ovens and Murray “by a fair way” after the Tigers handed his side an 89-point defeat on Saturday.

On their home turf, the Tigers were simply a class above the Magpies, kicking 11 goals in each half to run out winners 22.20 (152) to 9.9 (63).

Andy Carey, Josh Dicketts and Matt Shir kicked three goals each for the home side while Luke Wells, Joel O’Connell and Luke Packer starred.

For the Magpies, James Wong was brilliant with four majors while Josh Porter, Matt Grossman and Judd Porter worked tirelessly.

Knobel said while Yarrawonga was the reigning premier, he rated the Tigers as the clear favorite for the 2013 title.

“They are the best in the competition by a fair way,” he said.
