WANGARATTA Rovers snapped a two-game losing streak on Saturday, storming to an early advantage before holding off a determined North Albury by 19 points at Bunton Park.

The Hawks may have kicked just two goals in the second half but they booted 10 majors before half time to set up the 12.8 (80) to 8.13 (61) win.

Joel Coombes was consistent with four goals, Alex Marklew added three, Sam Caruso and Sam Carpenter starred through the middle while Tyson Hartwig kept Hopper star Adam Prior to just two goals.

Hawks coach Mick Caruso was delighted to be back on the winners list.

“It was a good win,” he said.

“We were very pleased with the result.

“It’s not often you go to Bunton Park and come away with three wins in the footy – it’s a tough road trip.”
