Making time to play with the little ones

FAMILY is the theme this term at Little Ones Playgroup, and it couldn’t be more appropriate for the families and friends who gather every second Wednesday for an interactive session of fun, games and stories.

The Christian playgroup for birth to pre-school age children, who meet at Wangaratta Christian Fellowship in Tavern Terrace, obviously enjoy each others company as they share songs, stories and activities inspired by the theme.

“Last week we made biscuits, we made our own musical instruments, and we’re also making books at the moment about our own families,” said coordinator Ceinwyn Wills.

“There are also grandparents involved here too who are really enjoying spending time with their grandchildren.”

And while the playgroup is the ideal place for children to connect and build relationships, it is also the place where parents are making friendships and finding support of their own.

“It’s very much about connecting with families beyond the group,” said Kristy Grant.

“You develop friendships with other parents because you have the chance to share morning tea and talk with other mums, and later this term we’re planning a dinner together with all the mums and dads.”
