AFTER weeks of positive performances Wangaratta finally broke through for its second win of the Ovens and Murray netball season with a strong victory over Wodonga Raiders on Saturday.
Coming off a thrilling draw with Myrtleford last round, the Magpies adapted to the wet conditions better and got off to a flying start at the Norm Minns Oval.
A four-goal lead at quarter time was extended to six at the half time break before Wangaratta broke the match open with a dominant third quarter.
Led by Jessica Allen (23 goals) and defender Olivia Lindsay, the Magpies piled on 11 goals while restricting the Raiders to just four.
Not even a 13-goal lead at the final change could slow the home side down as they continued to press forward in the last quarter, eventually winning 41-25.
Wangaratta coach Sue Witham said the fashion in which her side won showed how far they had come.
