NEWLY announced candidate for Indi, Bob Murphy, is intent on utilising his competitive nature during the lead-up to the federal election.
The Albury-based candidate, who has played over 400 games of Australian Rules football, believes his experiences in sport will hold him in good stead, as he vies to unseat incumbent Sophie Mirabella (MHR, Indi).
Mr Murphy will represent the Palmer United Party, which formed just this year and has unleashed about 150 candidates across Australia, including AFL legend Doug Hawkins.
The candidate said he and the party offer a viable alternative for Indi.
“I joined because I felt there is too much bickering between Labor and Liberal,” he said.
“Thousands are unhappy and I want to make a difference.
“Our number one policy is obviously doing away with the carbon tax, but I feel there are many untouched issues in Indi, such as tourism and wild dogs.”
