COUNCILLOR Tammy Atkins has hit back at Cr Julian Fidge’s claims the $500k set aside for council in-fighting was not his fault.

In Friday’s Chronicle Cr Fidge effectively levelled the blame for the costs, proposed in council’s draft 2013/14 budget, at Crs Atkins and Don Joyce, as well as former councillor, Lisa McInerney.

He produced documents showing the trio had made 200 complaints about him, which he said has been a cause of council’s ongoing costs by prompting the formation of councillor code of conduct panels.

But now Cr Atkins has hit back with her own set of facts, and some of the strongest statements yet made about Cr Fidge by a fellow councillor.

“Cr Fidge is well aware that all processes have been followed,” she said, explaining that she wrote to the Mayor, Rozi Parisotto, in late 2012 and early this year, highlighting concerns about Cr Fidge’s behaviour, but did not receive what she believed to be a “satisfactory response”.

The reason for the majority of Cr Atkins’ complaints are already in the public arena, and relate to comments made by Cr Fidge about council staff and fellow councillors in the media.
