THE imminent sale of one of Wangaratta’s vacant eyesores has renewed hope of revitalised development on the city’s northern entrance.

The former Mitsubishi Motors site on Parfitt Road is expected to have new owners within days.

And the Wangaratta Chronicle understands they are planning to develop the 2.2 hectare parcel of land into a commercial site.

The land has been vacant since a car yard business tenanting the site was abandoned in August 2007, leaving more than a dozen employees without a job overnight, and creditors out of pocket.

It is understood the consortium of a local and an out of town connection finalising the purchase of the site has plans for a development, using some of the existing building and new construction.

Garry Nash First National Real Estate has been dealing with the site since its use became dormant almost six years ago.

And First National director Mike Noble said his fellow director, Garry Nash, has been “passionately” pursuing a future for the site.
