THE return of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has been welcomed by the public, but losing Julia Gillard from the role has left local Australian Labor Party members disappointed.
But among all the drama, the party is finally ready to announce an Indi candidate for the upcoming election as early as this weekend.
Labor’s federal electorate assembly secretary, Zuvele Leschen, said the nomination was being considered by administration in Melbourne last night and she was not concerned by the possibility of Mr Rudd calling an early election.
“We’ll be ready for an election anytime we need to, we’re quite organised up this way,” she said.
As a Victorian member of the party, Ms Gillard is known and liked by many North East Labor members.
“I think it’s fair to say that female members were disappointed,” Ms Leschen said of the leadership spill.
“They were really pleased to have a female prime minister and were really pleased with the job that she was doing.”
