Errors prove costly

WANGARATTA Rovers coach Michelle Caruso said her side cost itself any chance of victory against Wodonga on Saturday at the WJ Findlay Oval by making too many “simple errors”.

The Hawks lost to the top of the table Bulldogs by nine goals but could have been so much closer had it not been for the constant errors.

After a goal-for-goal first quarter, Wodonga took complete control of the match through the middle two quarters before holding on to win 46-37.

Rebecca Cameron was outstanding for the visitors with 27 goals and Sarah Thomas provided the support, however, Caruso said the Hawks were their own worst enemy.

“We just made too many mistakes,” she said.

“Passing, held balls – we were up there but we made too many simple errors and you can’t afford that against good sides.

“It’s disappointing but not to worry, we are still in fourth.

“Although it would have been nice to beat a top four side.”
