THE YMCA has been granted a $2.58 million contract to continue to run the Wangaratta Indoor Sports and Aquatic Centre (WISAC), as well as the Olympic and Yarrunga outdoor pools, for the next five years.

Rural City of Wangaratta councillors made the decision at a special council meeting on Friday after the YMCA was the only business to tender for the contract.

Cr Don Joyce said the contract, worth $2,576,025.30, would run from July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2018.

“That’s quite a big splash madam mayor,” he said.

“We’re blessed to employ locals here.

“It is a very well-run facility, it’s expanding.”
