WANGARATTA City coach Jon Shaw admitted it wasn’t a great performance, however, Sunday’s 3-1 win over Wodonga Heart saw the Red Devils secure consecutive wins for the first time this season.

The Red Devils maintained their spot in the top four of the Albury/Wodonga Football Association with victory and as a result have kept the pressure on their closest opponents.

Jake Giannakis scored a double for the Red Devils while Stefan Joseph added another goal to his season tally in a lacklustre performance.

Shaw said before the match how Wangaratta City had struggled against Heart in recent times, and again he was on the money.

“It was a usual performance for us against Heart,” he said.

“We weren’t great – we’ve been worse but it was far from a perfect game.

“There were a few positives to come out of it.

“They didn’t get many shots away and we got two wins in a row finally.”
