IT was all smiles on Friday as Col McClounan became a Rural City of Wangaratta councillor.

There to watch Cr McClounan take the oath of office on Friday was crowd of about 20 family and supporters, as well as Mayor Rozi Parisotto and fellow councillors Don Joyce and Tammy Atkins.

Council’s chief executive officer, Doug Sharp, was also in attendance, temporarily returning from indefinite leave due to a requirement for him to conduct part of the official proceedings.

Cr McClounan thanked those in attendance and said he was hoping for good results over the next three and a half years.

“I feel a lot more comfortable standing up in front of a group of footballers than I do you lot but I suppose I’ll get used to that in the next little while,” he said.

“(I’m) really looking forward to working with Rozi and the team and hopefully we can get on and do some really good business in Wangaratta over the next three and a half years and really get things going.”
