IT’S become a familiar scenario for sides coming up against Milawa in Ovens and King footy this year.
That devastating extra gear the Demons are able to find just when the match appears to be in the balance.
The third quarters against Bright and Whorouly saw Milawa outscore its opponents 16.8 to 1.4, while it blitzed Moyhu 12.3 to 4.1 in the second term of that clash.
That extra gear was on display once again on Saturday, this time at Glenrowan as Milawa chalked up a 48-point win over the previously undefeated Tigers.
After a tight first half the Tigers registered the first two goals of the third quarter to gain a nine-point lead – the biggest margin the match had seen up to that point.
But at the 15-minute mark of the period Milawa forward Tim Lewis took over, and the Demons quickly took the game away.
The Demons continued to dominate the final term, although the goal blitz slowed down somewhat, with Lewis missing his two chances, leaving him with six for the day.
