Star Pie will play

Wong confident bout of concussion won’t keep him from facing Pigeons

NO PROBLEMS: James Wong (right) will play despite being concussed last week.

WANGARATTA is confident star forward James Wong has overcome a bout of concussion and will be available for tomorrow’s big clash with ladder leader Yarrawonga.

Wong took a spectacular mark in the opening minutes of last week’s clash with Corowa/Rutherglen but fell awkwardly on his head, neck and shoulders.

While he took the shot at goal, Wong was clearly affected, kicking it out on the full before being forced from the field almost immediately.

Wangaratta coach Mark Knobel said he had spoken with his spearhead and was expecting him to get the all clear from specialists to take his spot.

“I spoke with him Monday and he told me there was nothing structurally wrong,” he said.

“He was still a bit sore over the weekend but he said he is right to go so I don’t think he’ll be sitting on the sidelines.

“He just needs to get checked off by the doctor and he’ll be right.”
