THE two men allegedly caught at the scene of a $21 million cannabis bust in Cheshunt earlier this year have been charged with using and trafficking the drugs, as well as growing them.
Noor Alam, 38, and James Stammers, 65, appeared in the Wangaratta Magistrates’ Court yesterday, but did not enter a plea to charges.
Stammers was brought up in person, while Alam appeared via video link.
They have both been charged with using cannabis, plus three counts of cultivating and three counts of trafficking a commercial quantity of cannabis between November 1, 2012, and March 18, 2013.
Both were also charged with possessing a longarm firearm, and Alam was also charged with possessing cartridge ammunition.
The pair was arrested on March 18 at the Upper King River Road property where they were staying and allegedly cultivating 6900 cannabis plants concealed under a grape crop.
