Extra time for saleyard bid

Contractor extension, but works will be in draft budget

CONTRACTORS have been given more time to make bids to upgrade the Wangaratta Saleyards.

CONTRACTORS have been given more time to make bids to upgrade the Wangaratta Saleyards.

Expressions of interest for stage one works at the saleyards that will see a new roof installed were initially scheduled to close last Friday, but have been extended until June 25.

The 2013-14 draft budget is due to be tabled on July 2, but a council spokesperson said a figure to carry out the saleyards works will still make it into the draft budget.

“Council is trying to have a minimum amount of delay on the saleyards upgrade,” rural city communications manager, Andrew Chuck, said.

“The saleyards quote will be worked into the 2013-14 draft budget.”

The reason for the delay was to give contractors more time in making an expression of interest.
