THE WCC Tour of Wangaratta has again proved its popularity with 95 competitors from across Victoria taking part in last weekend’s race.

As well as running the men’s A, B, C and D grade races, the club was proactive and delighted at being able to provide a very well attended women’s grade race.

Due to the inclement weather on the Saturday morning, club organisers postponed the first two stages and re-organised the tour back to three stages.

Stage one on Saturday afternoon was the Taminick hill climb which was run under cool, rainy conditions with the Sunday morning welcoming riders to fine, sunny conditions allowing the stage two road race and the stage three 14km time trial to be conducted.

The weekend saw some great racing at all levels with the final A grade result showing only three seconds separating the top three podium competitors, two of whom were local club members.

In A grade, Shane Miller moved from sixth place after the road race to first place outright after a blitzing time trial by putting 86 seconds into the next best competitor.
