WANGARATTA Rovers look set to be without influential midfielder Sam Caruso for at least the next two matches after the in-form Hawk suffered a quad injury in Sunday’s win over Wangaratta.

Caruso had been one of the Hawks better players in the first quarter and a half before heading from the field half way through the second quarter and watching the rest of the match from the bench.

The young star missed half of last year after tearing his quad twice but coach Mick Caruso is confident his son’s latest injury isn’t as bad.

Nevertheless, Caruso will miss matches against Myrtleford, Wodonga Raiders and possibly Wodonga.

“Sam went and had a scan and saw the physio (yesterday) and it’s not as bad as last year,” Mick Caruso said.

“It’s the same leg and a similar spot but just not as bad.

“He’s been through the process before but we’re expecting him to miss probably only two or three weeks.”
