DOUG Sharp has no plans to quit as chief executive officer of the Rural City of Wangaratta.

DOUG Sharp has no plans to quit as chief executive officer of the Rural City of Wangaratta.

He released a statement yesterday, clarifying the conditions surrounding his current absence from work due to sick leave.

“Media reports which suggest that my employment as CEO with the Rural City of Wangaratta has ceased are incorrect,” Mr Sharp said.

“I am currently on sick leave with a stress related medical condition.

“Further I have no plans to leave my present job.”

Mr Sharp, who has been the target of criticism by Councillor Julian Fidge, and has filed bullying complaints against the maverick councillor, made some veiled comments about the conditions which led to his absence.

“On recovering my health, I intend returning to my job provided that the council can guarantee a safe workplace,” he said.
